Laboratory security

In case of skin/HF contact, immediate measures shoud be taken. Hydrofluoric acid (HF) behaves not like other Acids (HCl, H2SO4), but rather like a caustic solution. Most symptoms arise also only after hours and become then stronger and stromger (turn the skin inred, burn the sckin). Most doctors in outpatient clinics are not prepared for such circumstance, therefore it is recommended to print the following two links and take them to the hospital.

Emergency measures after contact with HF:

1. Rinse off immediatly.

2. Apply a 5 mm thick layer of calciumglukonat gel (lies in the refrigerator in the microscope laboratory)

3. Take with you the gel and Ca - ampuls (also in the refrigerator), as well as printed out memos (are also in the file in the chemistry laboratory).

4. Go to a hospital or visit a doctor (my recommendation: "internal Medizin" outpatient clinic of the university University, Chirugie rather not).

5. Tell the doctor the urgency and hint him that HF behaves quite differently as other acids.
