Spin-flop in the free layer of a PtMn/CoFe(13Å)/Ru(8Å)/CoFe(20Å)/Cu structure 

Kerr microscopy image of the sensing layer of a synthetic spin-valve after an anneal in the spin-flop regime. Spin-flop domains in the pinned layer are transmitted to the free layer via RKKY coupling. The drive field is applied perpendicular to the magnetization directions of the two spin-flop phases
