Surface Modification and Functionalization

Surfaces/Interfaces play a major role on properties of structures and components. We focus on developing fundamental understanding of physical and as well as chemical processes on the material surface which govern overall performance of the material. In collaboration with various institutions we also pay attention for transferring this understanding and knowledge into functional applications such as superhydrophobic surfaces [1], anti-icing surfaces , non-thrombotic cardiac implant surfaces [2–5], etc. In addition to physical vapor deposition and plasma surface modification, we are interested in unconventional micro- and nanostructuring techniques and applications [6].
