The master's degree program M.Sc. Materials Science and Engineering starts every winter semester (October).
1. Deadlines an application procedure for international applications from international students:
Application website for international applications for a start in the winter semester 2024/25 is closed now!
We accept INTERNATIONAL APPLICATIONS for a start in the winter semester 2025/26 only from 20 January - 16 February 2025.
Please read carefully all further information an application procedure below.
- Courses start in winter semester only. Please inform yourself timely beforehand which application documents are mandatory at the point of applying.
- The necessary application documents are listed here (with detailed information): application documents
- If your application documents are complete you can upload these within the application deadline by following this link: application website
- Please use only this application portal of the faculty of engineering! International applications that reach us by other means, and not as requested through the faculty application portal, can unfortunately not be considered!
- Please note that you will have to bring in all original documents or translated and certified copies for registration at Kiel University! For the application process documents do not have to be especially certified (e.g. by the embassy)
2. Deadlines and application procedure only for prospective students with a Bachelor's degree from another German University and not from Kiel University:
For some Master's programmes, mostly those taught in English language ( https://www.studium.uni-kiel.de/de/bewerbung-einschreibung/formulare-informationen/informationen/eignungsfeststellung-1_fach_master.pdf ), including our M.Sc. Materials Science and Engineering, the relevant departments have set up an aptitude test procedure with special application deadlines and separate application procedures. The application deadlines are often many months before the enrolment deadline.
In our case, this deadline is from 01.06. to 31.08. for the following winter semester.
Procedure:
- please send the completed application for examination of the eligibility requirements for 1-subject Master's programmes with all the additionally requested documents in this application form to kielmat@tf.uni-kiel.de with the subject "External national application".
- Please note, that only a Bachelor's and not a Master's degree certificate from a German university will be used for the evaluation or aptitude test! See also auch § 6 Admission to the Master’s degree programme of the Examination Regulations for students of "Materials Science and Engineering" leading to a Master of Science degree (M.Sc.).
