Learning

Imparting knowledge, stimulating critical thinking and research skills by broadening intellectual horizons, preparing students for the job market by developing their personality and communication skills, and considering ethics and morals within their field of work:
these are the attributes that good university teaching should encompass in both theory and practice.

Our lecturers have a profound knowledge in their field and are able to convey this knowledge in a clear and understandable way.
Teaching is based on current research findings and developments. The teaching materials are regularly revised and updated to provide students with the most up-to-date knowledge.
Courses are designed to be interactive to encourage active student participation. Discussions, group work and practical exercises are used to enhance the understanding and application of what is learned.
We attach great importance to a high level of practical relevance. In addition to theoretical content, practical applications, projects or internships are offered to give students the opportunity to apply the knowledge they have learned in the real world and develop practical skills.
An important goal is to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students. Questions are asked, different points of view are discussed and the application of learned knowledge to real problems is encouraged.
We provide resources and support for this, including for individual learning. This includes access to relevant publications, online materials, libraries, and student and academic tutors who assist students with questions or problems.

In teaching, we demand a challenging target level, but support our students in a variety of ways to adapt different prior knowledge to the required educational outcome.

In the bachelor's programs, we impart the fundamental knowledge and the associated methodological and problem-solving skills that are essential for all graduates in the long term.

The master's programs aim at a research-related specialization. In the master's programs Materials Science and Engineering and Materials Science and Business Administration, these specializations can be selected individually. Stays abroad are possible in these programs without loss of time - they offer a corresponding mobility window.
