Industry Internship Abroad

AuslandspraktikumAn internship abroad in a higher semester - e.g. the 6th semester of the Bachelor's program - has the advantage that the course of studies in Kiel is usually not influenced. The arrangement of internships abroad can also be done e.g. via the organization IAESTE organisation - particularly IAESTE Kiel

Information

Similar to studies abroad, the best sources of information are both the International Center of CAU Kiel, the International Office of the Faculty of Engineering and the professors of the Faculty of Engineering. For example, the International Center regularly holds information events on the topic of internships abroad. However, this information applies to all students at CAU. The professors of the Faculty of Engineering can supplement this with some subject-related information. In some cases, they can also name concrete companies with which contacts exist and/or with which students of the Faculty of Engineering have already completed an internship. At the International Center you can also get information about the possibilities of financial support.

Hints for the realization of an internship abroad

When looking for companies where an internship abroad can be completed, a lot of initiative is required. Various information publications can be consulted for selection. The professors of the Faculty of Engineering provide support in the search for companies as far as possible.  As already mentioned in the context of studies abroad, timely planning is also important for an internship abroad. At least one year before the planned stay you should start with this.

Internship contents

Bachelor's and Master's students can carry out an internship abroad - in addition to their studies - as a voluntary internship.

Bachelor's students also have the option of having it recognized as an industrial internship for their Bachelor's degree. If you would like to have an internship abroad recognized as an industrial internship for your Bachelor's degree, please note the requirements for the industrial internship specified in your examination regulations. These requirements for an industrial internship apply equally to internships at home and abroad:
