Do I need a minimum grade in my Bachelor's degree to apply for the Master's degree program?

In order to be admitted to the Master's degree program, you do not have to have a certain minimum grade in your Bachelor's degree. The Master's program in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration is an admission-free program without numerus clausus (NC).

Further details

However, for admission to the Master's degree program, you must have a Bachelor's degree equivalent to the Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration at Kiel University. If this is not the case, but there are only a few deviations, you can be admitted to the Master's program under certain conditions. In addition to the Master's modules and examinations, you must then take examinations from the Bachelor's degree program at Kiel University. Whether you have a suitable degree and are thus professionally qualified and what conditions you may have to fulfill will be decided by the reviewers during the application process.

Can I apply for the Master's degree program even if my Bachelor's degree certificate is not yet available?

Many applicants receive their Bachelor's certificate at a later date and thus after the application deadline. We will accept your application also without your Bachelor's degree certificate. In this case, please submit a current transcript of records.

Further details

If you are admitted to the program on the basis of a transcript of records, this is considered provisional admission. Please note the information on provisional Master's enrollment in the menu item "Start of Studies" and on the web pages of the Student Services (in German).

Do I have to have my documents notarised before I submit them?

For the assessment of professional suitability, you need to submit some documents such as your Bachelor's degree certificate. You can submit these documents without a certification. Please note that you need certified documents for enrolment at Kiel University.

In which language can I submit my documents for the assessment of my professional suitability?

We accept documents in German and English.

Which English language skills are required and which certificates are accepted?

To apply, you must prove English proficiency at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), e.g. through a TOEFL®IBT (at least 72 points), Cambridge Proficiency, Oxford Higher Certificate, International Certificate Conference ICC Stage 3 (Technical) or IELTS (at least 6.0 points).
