Good Reasons for Studying Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

ETIT The scientific training at a university to become an engineer is characterized by a clear emphasis on the theoretical basics and the scientific methodology. The training is intended to ensure that students acquire both general factual knowledge and methodological skills (strategies). This enables them to analyze the tasks occurring in their area of activity, to solve them independently, on their own authority and also to expand the level of knowledge in their specialist area by developing new findings and methods.

Electrical engineering, electronics and information technology got access to almost all areas of life. Therefore, engineers in electrical engineering and information technology are open to a correspondingly wide range of employment opportunities in a wide variety of industries:

  • The classic fields of work are the electrical industry, information and communication technology and energy technology.
  • In a variety of industries, electrical engineering and information technology are considered key technologies: mechanical engineering, automation technology, aerospace, automotive industry, process engineering, medical technology, environmental protection technology and many more.
  • In the area of research and development, electrical engineers work at universities and other public and private research institutions. There they conduct research in special fields of electrical engineering or are involved in interdisciplinary research.

ETIT The most important areas of activity of industrial engineers are each with exemplary work tasks:

  • research and development: planning and implementation of scientific experiments and simulations, calculation and modeling tasks, development of circuits and electromechanical structures, cooperation with other specialist areas,
  • plant and system technology: planning and implementation of components and overall projects
  • manufacturing, production: Development of manufacturing technology and manufacturing processes, quality control, product management
  • sales: sales of technically demanding (investment) goods, development of system solutions.

Thanks to their extensive training, ET&IT students have the opportunity to specialize deeply during their studies and are therefore particularly attractive for employers who are active in a suitable area.

The starting salary for university graduates is usually over 40 T €.
